Allison Greer, PT, DPT Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy

Founder of AthleteRefined

Allison is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy with over 16 years of clinical physical therapy experience in sports and orthopedics. Her clinical foundation has been profoundly shaped through her 10 years of experience at two of the world’s top orthopedic institutions, Hospital for Special Surgery and Mayo Clinic.

Allison is committed to unlocking each individual’s full potential. She provides comprehensive care to professional, adult, collegiate and youth athletes - guiding them through post-injury rehabilitation to return-to-sport testing. She also works extensively with highly motivated individuals outside of sport, guiding them in restoration of movement, resilience and longevity through individualized treatment plans.

In addition to her clinical practice, Allison is also deeply engaged in clinical research and education. Her research interests include patterns of recovery after hip arthroscopy and biomechanical contributors to running related injuries. Allison served as a senior faculty member of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Residency programs for 15 years and was named the 2021 Mayo Clinic Outstanding Physical Therapy Residency Clinical Mentor. With a foundation in leading clinical research and education, Allison applies the latest evidence to her clinical practice and uses her teaching experience to clearly communicate and collaborate with patients, empowering each patient with a plan that is precise, informed and tailored to individual goals.

Allison has a particular passion for working with runners, including those new to the sport as well as high performers, aiming to optimize the marriage between each runner’s abilities and the complex physical and biomechanical demands of running.

As a former collegiate runner and a ten-time marathoner, Allison's athletic experiences serve to inform and enrich her clinical practice. Allison's philosophy is centered on patient empowerment, providing education and prescribing individualized treatment plans, while promoting lifelong, sustainable routines for physical activity.

Outside of AthleteRefined, Allison enjoys distance running, paddleboarding along Florida’s scenic waterways, and exploring local farmers markets. She treasures time with her loved ones and her dog, Baxter, and she proudly cheers for her beloved Duke Blue Devils on game days.
